Dance Film LAB is a practical session for exploring the relationship between choreography and film. The lab format is meant to be democratic and collaborative as the purpose is for professionals to practice dance filmmaking, share experiences and share knowledge across different artistic backgrounds.
The session is facilitated by one of the participating artists and divided in three parts: 1. The designated LAB leader gives an introduction to her research and sets a task based on a question from the research. 2. The LAB participants explore the task in smaller groups. 3. All results are shared in a feedback session.
The lab format was developed at artist collective Goleb in Amsterdam, and facilitated continuously in the space, as well as Cinedans FEST (NL) and Multiplié Festival (NO).
